I've only ever bought on eBay never sold, so I'm not sure of the etiquette and would like some advice please.

So I put up for auction a fairly large item (don't want to specify in case buyer is on here!), and I specified it was for collection only. The buyer that won it hasn't paid or made any contact yet and it ended over 24 hours ago. This to me in itself seems odd because I always pay straight away, especially if it was for a large relatively expensive item on auction.

I had a quick look at their profile and it says they live about 60 miles away from me, which I also found odd and seems a long way to come.

I'm not sure whether to message them or how much time to give them? Also if they don't pay what actually happens next?
Just impatient I think really as it's taking up a lot of room I need it gone, and I felt I waited long enough for the auction to end without it dragging on like this.

Before I forget, as it is a collection only item how does that process work on eBay? Do I have to message the buyer to arrange collection of it and details?

Thank you for your help!

Message them. Ask when they will be collecting and ask for cash on collection only. Do not, under any circumstances, accept PayPal in collection items. Without a valid tracking number from a courier your buyer could claim item not received and eBay will automatically refund. If they do pay by PayPal refund and repeat request for cash.

Hope it all goes smoothly OP.

24 hrs isn't very long. Agree with pp. don't accept PayPal. Look up on ebay how long the buyer has to collect the item.
