Unfair negative review on eBay

I’ve had 100% for years now as seller and buyer and I’m a careful seller, a fast payer and all was going well.
Yesterday my score has gone down to 96.5 as a result of one buyer complaining a top was ‘dirty’ and unwashed.
In short the top was linen and distressed, a designer number she managed to get for 99p. It wasn’t dirty or unwashed.
She gave the whole review as negative. She also waited a month to leave a bad review which is rather odd.

I messaged her and offered her 99p back for a fucking Ralph Lauren top if she wasn’t happy and I’d pay postage...no response. (I didn’t use fuck obvs).

Have reported buyer to eBay on the grounds the review wasn’t true.
But I have a heap of other things for auction with 3 days to go and I think this will fuck up my sales. Whilst a 96.5% wouldn’t bother me too much as a buyer, it would make me hesitant.

My first negative experience on eBay, and I was wondering does anyone cover themselves in their item descriptions in some way and does any fellow eBayer have any experience of how easy it is to get the unfair (and frankly nuts) review removed ?
Am a bit pissed off.

I don’t think you will be able to get that removed to be honest. But you can try. Give live chat a try, and if you don’t hear back from them within a week then chase them up.

Make sure you leave a response to the feedback. Keep it nonemotional and factual. That way potential buyers can see you have addressed the issue and there is a good chance the buyer is trying it on.

Thanks, I did leave an non emotional response, saying buyer offered refund.
I will try live chat like you suggested.

I buy on eBay, and always read the negative reviews. I really wouldn't be put off by that in the slightest. A negative review usually says more about the buyer than the seller, especially in light of the rest of your feedback.

Ah thanks. I am perhaps a tad sensitive as I’m selling good stuff.
His/her feedback looks a bit nuts in fairness...especially for 99p Hmm

Good news - I did the web chat as 19lottie82 suggested and the negative feedback is being removed with 24hrs !
So thanks v.much for the advice.
They said they quite understood why I was annoyed. Yippee Smile

Good news OP. Feedback removal on eBay is a bit of a strange one. Sometimes they will remove it without any hassle at all and other times they won’t, no matter how unfair it is.

Gardai · 18/09/2018 22:53

Yes, I wasn't actually expecting then to remove it, and really quickly at that.
Am quite lucky.

Hardly anyone reads feedback on EBay anymore. People tend to only look if they want to know about the same item they are buying, so new things etc. EBay offers such good buyer protection now that there’s really no need to check out the seller on lower priced, un risky items. You’re over worrying. eBay has changed so much. Realistically, if you have a potential customer that’s checking your feedback because they’re hoping to bid on low priced second hand clothing they are not the buyers you want. You want the busy, rich ones that don’t have time for such faff. Those over cautious buyers are much more likely to complain, return and or start disputes. Don’t give it anymore thought. (Very long standing eBay seller)

Thanks vinyl, yes I haven't sold for over 3 years so I imagine it's changed. I don't look at reviews myself, just the %.

I'm sure negative feedback gets removed after a year anyway. It did with me.
Also I wouldn't worry too much in the mean time. All positives and suddenly one negative, we are aware of fussy buyers who just are never happy, and potential buyers will know this. One negative won't hinder your sales, it just shows you had a fussy buyer who complains at everything.
