I posted a parcel in August to address on eBay / PayPal.

Recipient moved (but apparently has redirected mail) and parcel showing on Royal Mail as undelivered - returned to sender. My address wasn't on the back of the parcel so wasn't returned to me.

Few days later it's showing as delivered but to recipients local sorting office.

eBay buyer chasing me as parcel not arrived - what do I do? Do I advise them to go to sorting office? Sorry, I'm new to eBay selling.

Any advice gratefully received

I think all you can do is advise that they go to the sorting office as you said. Explain the situation to them, that as they moved it could not be delivered. Keep them in the loop as this will reduce your likelihood of receiving negative feedback.

It is their fault it didn't arrive, you have done your part, so I would ask them to collect it from their sorting office or go online and organise a re-delivery. You could possibly do that for them, I have done this in the past when a postman failed to deliver or leave a card at an office on a Saturday.

If you get a negative or low stars for it appeal because you did the right thing. Save a copy of the posting details and all messages which should be sent via Ebay messages and not e.mails.

In future you need to put a return address on your packages.

Also send them a message to let them know that you have sent to the correct address, the one they supplied you and type it into the message to prove it is their fault, in case of a dispute.

Thanks everyone.

Really struggling to find any helpful advice on the Royal Mail website about what I do. eBay no help either.

Buyer not seeming to accept that she's complicated matters

All for something that I sold for peanuts

You can phone Royal Mail, there is a phone no. on the site. However this is not your fault. I would send one more message via Ebay messages similar to this:

^Hi, I am sorry you are unhappy about this situation, however I posted the item to you at the address provided by you which is the one on your Ebay account as required by Ebay. You failed to update your address on your Ebay account, this is your responsibility. The parcel is currently at ** where you can collect it or arrange to have it redirected to your own address by contacting Royal Mail. This is the link to help you to do this. www.royalmail.com/personal/receiving-mail/redelivery/. I am sorry but there is no more I can do as I have already done everything possible to get the item to you by using the address you provided.
Regards Lady Duplo^

Get a screenshot of the tracking on Royal Mail, and one of the dispatch details on Ebay that show the address. Add them to the above reply as proof.

All you can do is to send the above and then wait for her to either open a case or leave you a negative, or both. Ensure that you have entered the tracking no. into the dispatch details on both Ebay and PayPal. Then wait. The tracking no. proves you did it by the rules. The messages in your Ebay messages folder show that she has given the wrong address.

Come back here for advice if you need to. (Have been there).

Sorry, forgot to say, also tell her that the package will only be held for a limited time - not sure how long it is these days, it might be 2 weeks but maybe longer, it might be on the RM site somewhere. And tell her if she doesn't claim it, then it will no longer be possible to get it back.
