Don’t buyers leave feedback these days?!

Not used eBay for ages but I’m now having a clearout and selling a few bits.
None of the buyers have left me feedback - why is this? Buyers always used to leave feedback in the olden days....

Tell me about it!
I always leave feedback, seems I'm in the minority.

Generally, no. I think eBay’s figures claim a figure of about 40%, but in my experience it’s less than 20%.

However, I find it helps if you leave them feedback first.

I know. It's so annoying. I always leave feedback but rarely get it back. I'm beginning to not bother now. CFs the lot of them!

newsfromnowhere · 26/08/2018 16:36

This also really bugs me! I've been on ebay since 2004 and back when I started selling I reckon about 75% of transactions ended in feedback. Nowadays I agree that 20% is about right - perhaps one in five sales. it really bugs me too! I usually leave feedback myself but this doesn't mean I get it back.

Its not manditory.

nauticant · 26/08/2018 21:49

It varies depending on your niche. Collectibles with a premium on delivering a new item in an as-new box gets feedback on 40% of sales if you give people what they're hoping for.

I used to but people stopped leaving feedback and I tend to forget now. They don't seem to send reminder emails either

I only leave it if it's a particularly good or particularly bad transaction

NotUmbongoUnchained · 26/08/2018 22:07

I don’t think I’ve ever left feedback.

greendale17 · 26/08/2018 22:12

I always leave feedback and then send a reminder email

19lottie82 · 26/08/2018 23:11

send a reminder email

Noooooooooo........ I never leave feedback as a matter of principle if I receive a “begging letter”. It’s really annoying. Some people even leave a non positive because if it .

TiredPony · 26/08/2018 23:16

Thank you for reminding me Blush

I think it's the shift to mobile devices that is probably the cause. I used to sit down at my PC and I'd log into my eBay account, to bid and buy etc and it would be a more conscious act. Whereas now the ebay phone app I pop on in a snatched moment and wouldn't think of going back on just to leave feedback - and I say that an eBay business seller.
I'm not sure it really matters though, surely no feedback is better than bad feedback - other than the colour of your star next to your username I don't think it matters once you are above about 50 feedback as a personal seller on ebay.
