Sellers not responding to messages before sale

It may be me! I haven't used eBay for a while. But I have sent two queries in the last week on two completely different and unrelated items. Queries about the actual item iyswim. Neither seller has responded.

Is this normal now? Is there a problem with the message system? Or a way I can see if they have read the msg? One of the items finishes today and I'd really like it (prefer to know if my query about it is correct).

It's August... a lot of people never read messages. Can you buy the items somewhere else?

It seems quite common these days, I think they have their Ebay settings set to block e.mails, or it all goes into their junk folder. However it does show up in My Ebay on the listing.

I think sometimes they can't be bothered.

What really annoys me is the ones that have turned off the feature to even ask in the first place. Even if it is something I really want and can't get elsewhere I won't buy it if they do this.

ive just come back off holiday to find several messages on the charity page i run unfortunately the lady who was supposed to check messages couldnt get into the page on her computer so all these people probably think i ignored them but i dont have a smart phone to take on holiday with me sao there was nothing i could do
