Paypal question - What percentage do they take of the money you make?

sold a calculater for £50 paypal fees were 2.62!!!
ebay fees were about 75 p plus £3 fvf so actually got about £45
the average charge on a couple of pounds is 40p

I've more or less given up on eBay.

I don't know the exact percentage, but it's about 75p if you sold something for £9.99, so it's just shy of 10%. As with all business matters, it's proportionately more expensive to sell low value goods.

eBay is fine for getting rid of clutter in your house. It also works if you're very item specific (electronic stuff, techno stuff, etc), but it can get tricky for clothes/books, etc, especially if you don't sell your item first time round.

I sold a toy bundle for only 99p... postage was expensive... but paypal took 52p.... why did I bother as ebay then took about 36p leaving me with...
