eBay charging VAT

I'm sure they've always done this but it's the first time I've noticed - in addition to charge 10% on final value fee (and postage, cheeky bastards) they charge 20% VAT on the whole invoice. So basically it ends up being more than 10%.

In addition to the postage fees and PayPal - plus always getting stung on something I didn't notice (this time the scheduled listing fee which was free for ages and then without warning suddenly wasn't) they're just making it more and more pointless to sell on eBay.

Are U a business seller or private? I'm reading this is only business sellers get charged VAT.

That's really weird - I'm private. Only selling 2nd hand stuff as having a massive clear-out. I'll give them a call.

please report what they told you. I had better look more closely at mine own invoices, too (also a private seller)
