Need all your help in dealing with an annoying seller who stole my picture......

I just sold a Mamas & Papas cot on eBay last week. However within a couple of days of listing mine someone else listed one and used MY PHOTO.

Result was that various people e-mailed me asking if mine was the real one, or hers, and I suspect some people who might have bid didn't because they were suspicious about two listings with the same picture.

I e-mailed the seller politely and asked her to remove it. She replied with a rude and offensive message basically saying F off and Get a Life.

I reported it to eBay, but of course they haven't done anything about it yet, and her listing finishes tomorrow.

Sooooooooooo I wondered if anyone on here with an eBay account would fancy 'asking the question' of this buyer "Is your picture REALLY of YOUR cot, it's just that I noticed the same one on an earlier listing..."

or soemthing else just to make her realise she can't get away with this.

I feel really sorry for whoever buys it, because she is really mis-representing it by using a stolen picture...

Here's the item: Nicola Cot

Pleeeeeeeeeeease....

i wonder if they mn?

Spidermama · 22/05/2007 21:49

I'm getting the feeling this woman will never, ever steal anyone's photo ever again. She'll probably have nightmares too.

nightowl · 22/05/2007 21:49

how long before an arsy message appears on the listing do you think?

i give it an hour 1/2.

Legacy · 22/05/2007 21:53

I'm just desparate for someone else to bid on it so that I, or we (!) can all e-mail and say "BUYER BEWARE"

I wonder how many watchers she has now?
I can see its had 360 views!

Legacy · 22/05/2007 21:55

Wonder if we could start asking questions about her other items.... "is that monkey photographed with the "So CHloe Platform Wedges" included in the sale? "

Spidermama · 22/05/2007 21:55

OMG surely that's enough punishment for the crime. She's felt the might of MN without knowing it so let that be a lesson. She's probably really freaked out by now.

Spidermama · 22/05/2007 21:56

Also, she may get you back legacy. You don't want her stalking you on ebay and getting herself in a position where she could affect your 100% feedback rating.

Legacy · 22/05/2007 21:58

Yes, you might be right... [reluctant agreement icon]...

She probably thinks it just me sitting logging in as lots of different IDs !

Don't you think this a bit mean ladies ?

Clearly her cot is dismantled and it was just easier for her to use your photo than put it back up. Can we not empathise with that ?

I feel really sorry for her !

Legacy · 22/05/2007 22:01

I've already had that thought, Spidermama, and have added her to my blocked bidders list, but she could come on as someone else of course.

why are you all so nice? I'd be creating a new e bay account and bidding £1,000,000.09 on it by now....

Legacy · 22/05/2007 22:04

Scatterbrain - see my post of 20.37...

As I've said, if she'd shown the slightest remorse I probably would've just said OK, but it was the offensive response that annoyed me.

"So sue me.... get a life.." etc

OP posts:
scatterbrain · 22/05/2007 22:06

Yes I read your post of 20.37 Legacy - thanks.

I still think this is pretty mean and petty.

nightowl · 22/05/2007 22:15

its also dishonest to picture something that isnt yours, which could be damaged and unsafe.

Legacy · 22/05/2007 22:16

Well I think Ebay has a policy on 'Photo Theft' for good reasons - to protect sellers' intellectual property rights, and protect buyers from misrepresentation - it's fairly clear.

If someone chooses to blatantly flaunt that then they leave themselves open to criticism in my opinion.

To be honest, this person sounds like a sufficiently tough nut that I doubt very much this will have bothered her (him?) in the slightest - s/he is probably enjoying the attention.

If not, then I hope s/he thinks twice before doing it again.

AND I genuinely hope eBay acts on the reportings.

scatterbrain · 22/05/2007 22:19

Yes fine - you reported it to ebay as you should have! What I think is petty is getting mners to email her and effectively bullying her

I'm not saying she isn't in the wrong - but do two wrongs make a right ?

Legacy · 22/05/2007 22:26

Think bullying is a rather strong word to use - about half a dozen people have asked pertinent questions about her item, and now we've agreed that's enough I think?

Sounds like community policing to me.....

scatterbrain · 22/05/2007 22:27

I think you should be ashamed of yourself tbh

Legacy · 22/05/2007 22:28

Well sorry, I don't !

Spidermama · 22/05/2007 22:28

Lol legacy.

Alright ladies off you go now. There's nothing to see here.
