Have just received an email from what looks like paypal asking me to verify my details.

It is NOT paypal.

If you get an email like this, do not reply, do not give them any details.

Everything looks like paypal - the fonts they've used, everything.

Yep, I had that too. Deleted it unopened.
Also got one saying I had been promoted to Powerseller due to my brilliant and prolific selling. We sell on dh's account

I've had them LOADS lately, and ebay ones, saying my "item" is ready for dispatch once I confirm my details.

Very convincing but a complete scam! There's an email address for both ebay and paypal to report spoof ones.

Thanks, will keep my eyes open.

If you hover your mouse over the email address they are using in the email heading of any suspect email, you should see the actual address appear in the bottom bar of the screen. This should reveal that the sender is not quite who they say they are.

It is absurdly easy to copy the code of any website- they are relying on brand recognition as a means to gain people's trust. No bank, money organisation should ever have to contact you you to ask for personal details, passwords, date of birth etc, unless you have rung them first.
