Can someone explain offers to me?
Listed a few things yesterday for sale by auction only, and eBay has automatically made them open to offers. This has never happened before. Now receiving some really rubbish offers for my items.
Do I have to respond to them all? What happens if I accept an offer? Thanks

When you list an item sometimes ebay will automatically switch on the best offer feature. I’m not sure why, other times it doesn’t.

You can edit your listing and switch it off if you like.

You don’t have to respond to offers. If you do accept one then your buyer is sent an invoice to pay. I find a lot of buyers don’t really get that if they send an offer and you accept it then they have to buy it, so I’ve ended up with a few non payment cases.

Thanks for that Lottie. Can you tell me how to switch off the offers from my listing?

Hi
Just came on to post the same question. Its really annoying isn't it because the section where you take off the make offers bit is really well hidden. Anyone who did not know about it would find that they were getting numerous offers and not know why.

I seem to get offers which are a penny more than the auction start price i.e. listed for £9.99 they offer £10

Just go to your active listings, click “revise” and then you can go in and switch off the best offer feature.

I think, although not absolutely positive, that you can turn it off when listing in advanced mode.

However, I just list at a slightly higher price than I am prepared to accept and set the accept and decline choices accordingly. It saves revising them all.

Even if you select to turn it off when listing an item in advance, it still sometimes automatically turns offers on. I don't know why they have started doing this, it is most annoying and very time consuming for me. Now every time I list something I check the listing once it's live to see if Ebay have turned offers on, as that's the only way I know if they have turned offers on or not. It's sneaky and snidey of them.
Once an item is live if you're on the app you can go to the listing, click on it, and you will see a tab called offer settings, along with revise item etc. Press offer settings, you can turn the offer off then for that item, instead of having to go into the whole revise item thing. But you have to do this for every individual item, turning it off on one does not turn it off for all of them.
