pissed off with it!

ok, received expensive shoes of the wrong size, late and not in the "excellent condtion" listed- not my mistake they were not as listed, no response to my complaint.

Also got top for dh which turns out to have slight hole in it, even so, I (stupidly) left postive-ish feedback with an overall +ve but did state that there had been a slight hole. Seller mailed me to complain about my pointing this out in feedback due to her "reputation" - wtf? And I was trying to be nice!!

Think I should avoid ebay in future, it's too much hassle, people are not honest and they get narky if you point out any discrepancy, or is this just me?!

What a bloody waste of time & money!

I bought my dd Boden boots (I know, I know ) which were BN but when they arrived there was clearly a fault with the zip. Emails went back and forth between the seller and myself and luckily I managed to negotiate a partial refund as dd was heartbroken and didn't want to send them back (she's skinny of foot and can wiggle her way into the boots if the zip is left half way down! ).

I bought ds a toy this week and waited ages for the seller's address to send a P.O. to, then the seller said they didn't get my email (which was sent via Ebay and I have a copy of - again ).

it';s such hassle, isn't it? And doesn't seem a bargain when you get sub-standard goods.
So you'll be going direct ot Boden next time then?

I agree with you, i used to use ebay alot but started to get annoyed & thought it was not worth the hasstle have now not used it for about 1 year.

so do you reckon most transations are like this, or particularly for clothing/shoes?

We'd bought & sold in the past on ebay with household items/furniture and nver really had problems.

and do these people feel any guilt about deliberately (I assume) misrepresnting their items, do they not care/think they'll get away with it?

Confused, as well as pissed off, because in non-clothing/shoe transactions have always had positive experience.

I have not had any problems with ebay but maybe i haven't come across a nutter yet. I always wait until i have recieved the item and checked it over before leaving feedback. I have always given good feedback but i think if someone took more than 5 days to send it i would leave neural feedback and say because it was slow sending.

I've never had any real problems so to speak (so far) but I mainly deal with books.

I've often been tempted to both buy and sell clothing but tbh, I see way too many possible things going wrong and it scares me

All I could suggest is that you make a a list of rules for yourself (I've done a similar thing) follow the rules when searching and reading the listings and for what questions to ask. Always ask questions prior to bidding, theri respose is an indication of how they perform. If they don't respond don't assume all will be ok.
Stick to your guns re FB. Decide yourself what warrents a pos neut or neg and don't be afraid to use them. If you get a retalitory simply follow up with the words 'this is a retalitory FB'

I have made some great purchases inc a bread machine, a sewing machine, a first aid kit for the car, bubble wrap for moving house and a new miraclesuit (swimming cosi) but have been very disappointed with any used clothing I have bought, it never looks the same as the picture and a top I bought had a distinct whiff of fags despite being described as coming from a smoke free home. 1.99 for a top seems like a bargain but it's not if you never wear it - I have decided not to buy clothes on there.

No seriously, I know it's minor in the grand schme of htings, just has done little for my faith in human nature when combined with being soaked from the rain and then blanked out by a PTA mum at the schoolgates (who's even sat in my house supping tea!).

A lonely day, need to engage with RL more, maybe.

was it the same seller? two faulty items and i would be miffed.

if it was a different seller though i can understand in a way where they were coming from about your feedback. i sold something lately which was brand new but something had dropped off it. i responded to the buyer's message straight away no questions asked. when she sent it back i fully refunded her, plus her postage back, i didn't get my fees back so was obviously out of pocket but i thought it was the right thing to do.

she did give me positive feedback but still mentioned the fault which i thought was a bit mean considering i'd gone out of my way to rectify things. of course i wouldn't ask anyone to lie and say item was great when it wasnt, but feedback isn't only about the item, its about the overall service. if it had been the other way around i would have given good feedback and not mentioned it if i could see the seller's feedback was usually good (which mine is so far!)

i would also hope that if there is any problem, the buyer would message me first and give me the chance to put it right.

it was different sellers, so I guess I've been unlucky. IKWYM on feedback, sold myself but I did try to be fair and was positive about everyhitng else, but hell the most improtant thing is the item, however good the service!

I'm officially put off (and dh is officially relieved!)

ah not all sellers are out to con. ive only started selling to get some funds to pay off debts and save up for ds's birthday. can understand how its offputting though. (wasn't saying you were mean btw).

some buyers can be pains too though, i may be joining you in your grumble soon

ebay cost me £70 once (sort of). ds wanted a toy advertised on tv, was far too expensive so i bought a different one from ebay. not the same toy, but a variation on it i suppose.

unfortunately when i was testing it, he saw it in the box (he didn't tell me, told my mum). then the thing stopped working when i took it down to show a friend. seller never answered my messages, ds was expecting his toy, birthday looming. couldn't get another one in any toy shop in area so i bought the better one from the TV in desperation at his little face crumbling

i did get my money back from paypal, but i still paid extra £70. original toy was £20, replacement was nearly £100.

he did play with it until all 10 batteries wore out though .

lesson learnt

I have had mostly good experiences...only about 2 not so great ones out of 50+ so...can't really complain!
But, I always feel I really have to do my research first, otherwise you get far to easily ripped off....i.e. it's so easy to forget postage costs, etc...but that cna make a bargain a not so much a bargain afterall thing.
However, I received my brandnew 14ft tramploine with safety net...and that was definately a bargain....looked at it online earlier again, and the bid for the same item was already over £10 more then I had won it on Friday for and the thing had still hours to go....and the seller also now listed one as buy it now for £199 +£60 p&P....and I only paid £172 altogether...!
But, if transaction go wrong it is highly annoying, especially if sellers don't reply, etc....

but it's when it's so basic as a wrong shoe size, I mean was I wrong to assume that she would send me the size as listed, not a smaller one which won't even go on my foot? I'm like one of the ugly sisters from cinderella and I shall not go to the ball!

How do paypal refunds work, if i register a dispute, will i get refund back in full> Does the seller end up paying this to paypal??
