Selling an iPhone - help?

I’ve found my old 5s in a drawer, probable hardware fault (which I will be giving details about and selling as spare/repair) but beautiful condition and does occasionally switch on and work fine.

My question is, I think I reset it to take all my details, Apple ID etc off. It’s currently showing the screen where it says Hello in different languages, can anyone confirm that this means all my data has gone?

Yes that means the phone has been reset and it’s fine to sell.

I would normally advise against using eBay to sell an iPhone, as the potential for a scam is high, as are fees (Gumtree is a much better option with cash upon collection). However I don’t think you’ve got much to worry about with a spares and repairs 5S

I’ve sold at least 10 old iPhones on eBay, including one DD dropped in water (you could still see the display so it was just about useable) and several with cracked screens.

Look at completed listings similar to what you’re selling, price it realistically and be prepared to take offers if you just want it gone.

Use a tracked service, pack it in bubble wrap and send it off promptly.

Brilliant, thank you, that’s very helpful! Yeah I’m not anticipating making loads of money on it, but even a few quid for holiday pocket money is better than it sitting in my drawer Grin

I sold mine to envirophone rather than go through eBay. You can see from their website what they'll give you.
