Can I cancel a pending paypal payment?

Hi, my H bid on an item advertised by someone with no feedback. Did warn him about it but he was quite happy to go ahead. He paid me the cash and I payed for the item by Paypal. The payment is currently pending and due to clear on 9th May.
Ebay is now showing that this seller is no longer a registered user so I really want to cancel the payment. Its for about £130.00 so not peanuts.

Does anyone know how I can do this?

If they are no longer a registered user their account will be frozen and Paypal should automatically return the money....but I'd email them if I were you just to make sure they do so promptly.

thanks for the advice - I have emailed paypal for their advice so hopefully they will sort this out.
Will the money only be returned once it has tried to clear then? At the moment the payment is still showing as pending and is due to clear on 9th May
