Buyer not paid - cancel sale or unpaid item claim?

I sold a toy on eBay last Monday. The buyer hasn’t paid although I’ve sent an invoice and messaged them asking for payment- no response at all.

The buyer has 100% feedback from a total of 6 sales and the feedback says they are a prompt payer. Do I have to open an unpaid item claim or can I just cancel the sale? It is a low value item and I don’t want the buyer to have an unpaid item recorded against them if it can be avoided.

And after cancelling/ getting an unpaid item result, do I then get to use second chance offer or do I have to re list?

I think you have to open an unpaid item claim but I would be tending to give the benefit of the doubt and wait a few days. I have only just got internet properly working since Monday night. Weather has been quite extreme so my gut would tell me to wait and see for now. Maybe that's just me though.

Unpaid item. If no response from the buyer you can claim your fees back and cancel the transaction in 3 days.

If you issue a cancellation request and thy ignore it, you need to wait 7.

Thanks lottie and fourpaws _ I’ll give the buyer til Monday and then go for an unpaid item claim.
