“Not as described” - am I entitled to refund of return postage

This is partly down to one of those infuriating long alphanumeric model numbers, but mainly down to seller using the wrong image.

The top flatter one is the one I wanted - G6PB6BL16

The lower flatter one is the model number she sent me - G6PB3BL16 - but the last image is what the G6PB3BL16 actually looks like, & is what she should have used.

The difference between PB6 & PB3 is the capacity & I wanted the bigger one. I wouldn’t have bought hers if she’d used the correct image.

Her postage to me was £3.40 Shock 1st class. I won’t be sending it back 1st but am I liable for the postage cost?

Also I notice that the cheaper incorrect one offers free returns!

did you pay with paypal? might be worth giving them a call

Open an eBay return saying it’s not described and you will get a pre paid returns label.

If you pay upfront to return it you’re not entitled to that back, so always open an eBay return case.

will do, thanks, both Smile

(I am entitled to prepaid postage then? Even though the description was technically accurate?)

If you say she used the wrong image, then yes. There is a return reason “does not match photos”, or something along those lines.

Make sure you get the prepaid label. If it doesn't show after you've had agreement to return it then contact ebay to let them know. DH bought a cable off someone and the seller sent the wrong item (it was a business seller). DH clicked on the link to get a return label and it just showed the seller's return address with no return label so he sent it recorded delivery. Seller did not refund return postage. DH contacted ebay who said they can't force the seller to refund the return postage and that he should have contacted ebay to send the return label.

LapdanceShoeshine · 19/11/2017 00:36

Thanks, Melfish, I will

I haven't heard back yet. I've had an acknowledgement from ebay which includes seller's name & address but will sit tight until I get a label Smile

If you have opened a case and the seller doesn’t send a label then simply ask ebay to step in and help as soon as it allows. There will be a date provided telling you when you can do this, it’s usually 7-8 days after you open the case.

Email just now - she’s refunding & I don’t have to return it!
I feel bad now Confused

No need to feel bad, refunding without a return is obviously the money convenient / cost effective solution for her.

Thanks, Lottie Smile
