lovemygirls - don't worry you've still got plenty of time left - I've often had lots of watchers on things..........and then no bids at all, and then some items that have only had a handful of hits (ie people looking at them) and no watchers sell really well at the last minute.

People often wait until the last 24hrs, or even last 2-3 minutes before bidding.

LoveMyGirls · 04/05/2007 21:41

I've gone up to £12.09!

LoveMyGirls · 05/05/2007 10:33

dinny · 07/05/2007 17:40

could someone give me an idea of how to get started? have a target of paying for the family to have Centreparcs Christmas break....

have loads of kids' clothes, DVDs, CDs, books. and a buggy.

fannyannie · 07/05/2007 17:53

dinny - take some photos, and get your stuff listed - have a look using the ebay search to see how much people are paying for the items you have - and how much postage they're charging - decide what the minimum you want to get for them is (so you put your starting price somewhere where you'll be ok to see them go for if you only get one bid) and have fun listing.

You don't need fancy descriptions - just a "this is an a,b,c it's in x,y,z condition and 1,2,3 markings etc etc".

dinny · 07/05/2007 21:33

cheers, fannyannie. do you think ebay or amazon for books?

Nemo2007 · 07/05/2007 21:37

Ive got loads thatneeds listing on ebay. All sitting under the table in bags at the min. Since april I have made about £40 on ebay but thats not including the 2 cars I have sold on there in the past 24hrs

sixlostmonkeys · 07/05/2007 21:48

Dinny (sorry, i don't mean to be butting in)
imo amazon charge waaay too much in final value fees.

If you have a lot of books etc it may be worth setting up a shop - free for the first month and £6 per month after.

Most of my books go in the shop - the only ones I auction are the ones I'm certain will attract more than one bid - you can research this by looking at what is already there.
If you discover a book is listed umpteen times already then tbh it's not worth it - but you could put all these in a job lot. Job lots do okish at attracting bids.

If you opt for the shop try listing on .com. It's the only way the millions of US ebayers to see to your stuff and it's only a penny or two for gallery (I think it's about 15p for UK shop)

Listing fees are cheaper for media (books Cds etc) but final value fees are over 9% - with this in mind, tbh, if you are looking at getting less than .99 for a book (with a competitive p&p) you will lose money in the long run.

Good luck!

kirstygem · 08/05/2007 13:28

So pleased as have made £70 in a week. Raiding my DHs DVD colection has been a good idea as they selling really well.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 08/05/2007 13:36

Hmmm, kirsty. I have qute a few of those knocking about, too. TBH I only really sell DDs outgrown clothes, but have done quite well with the couple of other bits I have sold (2 of DH's old work jackets for famous racing stables went for about £90 each!) I made £40.49 on the 2 items I sold last week, and have 4 more finishing on Thurs, 3 of which have bids. Have to get motivated to put more on, but computer rejecting broadband and it's so SLOW on dial up I lose the will to live halfway through.

hayes · 08/05/2007 13:39

how do I stop myself buying stuff on ebay with the money I make

nappyaddict · 08/05/2007 17:08

argh i missed last weeks cheap listing day. does anyone know when the next one is?

LoveMyGirls · 08/05/2007 21:43

I only started this week most of my items went unsold but i still made £36.15!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woooohooooooooooooo

tortoise · 08/05/2007 21:44

My total is £71 in the last 31 days! I am quite please with that. Need to sort out what to list next.
Do you think its worth listing a DVD recorder thats not 100% working? And what do i start price at?

SNOWBall4girlz · 08/05/2007 22:10

hayes
I have that problem too just bought a dress and a pair of shorts that dd4 doesnt need but are cute lol

sold a couple more bits need to list need to list

MrsWho · 08/05/2007 22:23

Tortoise - I listed a couple of things last time that didn't work properly but they sold.
What is wrong with it?

I have added more to mine tonight, haven't gotuch left at home worth selling though

OP posts:
tortoise · 08/05/2007 22:34

Im not sure whats wrong with it. It nearly always says blank discs are not blank so wont record on them. Plays discs ok most of the time!
