Selling - has ebay made some changes recently.....?

Trying to sort out a buy it now listing and everything has changed.
In my listing preview it now shows 'buy it now' with a 'make offer option' Is there anyway to get rid of this or are we all going to have to have the hassle of offers on everything? I see we can set ebay to auto decline offers at whatever price but little concerned to put it at the max when people think with the make offer option we must be up for accepting a lower price. If we don't accept people may not want to buy out of annoyance.
Just checking I am not missing something Grin or doing anything wrong. I hate change and just when I think I know what I am doing.

It looks like an email in my ebay inbox has confirmed the issue as reads
'All fixed-price listings will include the Best Offer by default and free of charge. Allowing Best Offers helps listings get noticed and you decide whether to accept the offers or not'
Oh great what fun Hmm

I listed something last night as a buy now and nothing appeared to have changed. I never offer best offer as an option and simply uncheck the box if it's already ticked.
I can't honestly remember whether I had to do this last night, but I've just checked my item now and there is no mention of me considering offers in the listing.

Thanks for replying millymae perhaps they have not changed it for all yet, this is more of the email they sent me via ebay:
In July we’re updating our quick listing tool to make it even easier for you to sell your items fast:
• Easily copy listing details from similar sold items.
• Drag and drop photos or synch them with your desktop draft from a mobile device.
• View guidance on pricing to increase your chances of selling your items.
• View delivery recommendations or pick your own, including collection in person and international options to reach more buyers.
At the same time, all fixed-price listings will include the Best Offer by default and free of charge. Allowing Best Offers helps listings get noticed and you decide whether to accept the offers or not.
We’ll automatically switch you over to the latest version of the quick listing tool in the coming weeks.

I always uncheck the box too but now in the new system you have to select either auction or buy it now and offers. You only have those two options to pick from unfortunately to sell your items. It may change for you shortly....

Is this mobile phone app, OP? I only list via laptop & I was able to uncheck the best offer box 3 nights ago.

I think you're getting unnecessarily worried about Maybe things, by fearing it might annoy a Buyer if their best offer is declined. It's a business transaction, people can go elsewhere or get your item for convenience.

chloesmumtoo · 21/08/2017 12:53

No it is not a mobile app, I use my laptop to list items. I only usually sell cheap bits tbh clearing out unwanted items (more dd's than mine)

oh well, if it happens to me I'll know why, having seen your thread.
Trying to declutter DC's stuff is also my perennial challenge!

AllToadsLeadToHome · 22/08/2017 00:52

I have noticed the site has been slow when uploading listings which is in indication that something is being changed.

I have best offer on some of my items but the others are just BIN and not been forced to use it yet.

Would it work for you to just increase the price a bit and set the price you will accept accorindgly? Or use auction and start at the price you want to sell for.

Once people get used to it things will settle down, until the next 'great' idea they have.

AllToadsLeadToHome · 22/08/2017 00:52

accordingly Grin

chloesmumtoo · 22/08/2017 10:26

Yes that's what I have done AllToadsLeadToHome , raised the price a little. I set ebay to decline everything bar the wanted price. One buyer has already used up 3 offers but was no where near anyway. But I have just set it to auto accept as well, any that are on or above so I don't have to over think it.
I will just feel better when everyone is in the same boat Grin

I am using 'sell similar' for my listings and not had it come up yet, maybe they are still working through everyone. Private seller though, if that makes a difference.

chloesmumtoo · 27/08/2017 03:21

Not too keen on new system at mo. Will probably do auctions from now on instead. Buyers keep using up all their three offers with no where near prices and then all contacting me on what I will accept anyway. Have told several a price with my offer sent after lowering more and still no response so feel it is a real pita way of selling now. Better doing an auction and having less hassle I think.

There are a lot of chancers out there. You can just ignore the low offers rather than reply and if they are still interested they will offer again.

I have only had one offer (ever) with best offer and it was someone who was obviously buying to resell, and sent a message rather than an offer which was for 2 items. If it had been enough to cover what I paid plus the P&P I would have accepted but was only offered a little bit more when I explained so I let the listings end and will re-list later.

I have loads to list and I hate the hassle of auctions now - wondering if they will pay, waiting if they don't. BIN is easy, I can just reduce the price a bit if I need to. I also like to include the P&P as 'free' as it stops the postage star being dinged when Royal Mail mess it up or the buyer is out when it arrives, have to deal with so many hard of thinking people these days.

I sometimes put an item on auction if I am not bothered about how much it makes, let someone have a bargain and they often come back and buy again.

chloesmumtoo · 01/09/2017 15:36

Thanks for that info AllToadsLeadToHome Smile
I am on the quick listing tool but have noticed by messing around on the advanced listing tool that I can uncheck best offers. So if I can handle the advanced tool then it looks like I can go back to my old method if I want. Just thought I would post it here in case it is of interest for anyone else.

Oh no, I just came on here to ask the same question! I hate it when ebay change things. Where will I find the advanced selling tool? I've been looking but can't find anywhere to amend things.

Ihavepatrick · 12/09/2017 20:52

found it

chloesmumtoo · 13/09/2017 09:59

Glad you have found it Ihavepatrick. Will take a bit of getting used to I think but atleast it will eliminate the best offer hassles Smile
Not listed anything using it yet though
