Hi, I think a seller is taking the piss but wanted to double check before contacting Ebay. I purchased some make up 3 weeks ago and it hasn't arrived. I waited until 3 days after the latest arrival date shown on the listing to contact the seller. I opened a 'Where is my item' case and messaged the seller asking them to confirm it had been sent. A day or so later they replied saying it had and could I wait a couple more days. I said OK. Next day they send me a message saying the make up had been returned to them as the postman couldn't deliver it. The seller said they would re-post it that day (Monday) I think this is unlikely as we have a reliable postman who I have seen every morning for the last 3 weeks. We also have a secure storage area which the postman has access to incase we are not in. However, I gave the seller the benefit of the doubt until today. I received a message from the seller saying if I close the case they will send out my item. I replied that I thanked them for their message and would close the case when I received my item. I then get a reply saying, "Hi, maybe the words I am using are too complicated. Close case and then I will post your item. Simple isn't it?" I am fuming at their rudeness but a I right in thinking I must keep the case open until the item (ever) arrives? I know once a case is closed it cannot be re-opened. Can anyone confirm?

Report them to eBay
Give negative feedback first

AshesEmbersFlames · 12/07/2017 16:55

Don't close the case! Go through eBay and they will refund you. They almost always side with the buyer anyway and you have evidence that the seller is being a dick as well.

Don't respond to any more of their messages either.

TheDiamondMumcrafter · 12/07/2017 16:57

Thanks. I wasn't sure whether to reply to the messages as I thought it would just give them an excuse to be rude to me further!

Yes defo a negative review and do not close the case. You'll either get your money back or the items..:eventually. X

No need to report them to eBay, you've already opened a case.

At this stage there will be an option in the resolution centre to escalate the case / ask ebay to step in and help, go and do that now. Ebay will refund your money within 48 hours (usually sooner).

Then leave factual feedback.

Can't believe what I'm reading! That's terrible OP and very unprofessional of the seller. They are just after your money by the sounds of it. They have no intentions of sending you the item once the case is closed. If you close the case you won't be entitled to anything. Don't close the case! And sometimes after arguing cocky sellers can post something invaluable, but signed for. So check your item before signing for it, if it's sent signed for. Any funny business in there then don't sign for it.
If seller hasn't resolved the issue by a certain date (says on the case what the date is) then you can request for eBay to step in. They will then refund you. (They take this from the sellers paypal.)
Sorry this has happened to you. We're not all bad like this. But it's sellers like this that give eBay a bad name. They are trying their luck. Don't respond to any more messages.
Any updates?

TheDiamondMumcrafter · 13/07/2017 09:47

No update so far. I have taken on board the advice and will just wait until I can ask eBay to step in. I will not be responding to any further messages. Been on eBay for 15 odd years and have never been spoken to like the seller spoke to me. They have terrible feedback so my fault for not checking it before purchase. Lesson learned for the future!

Not your fault, but yeah always check feedback. Have they messaged you again? Can't see them lasting long on eBay. I wonder how many times they have had cases opened on them.

TheDiamondMumcrafter · 14/07/2017 07:51

No haven't heard anything else. Will escalate to eBay next week.

Just escalate to eBay now and they will refund unless the seller shows proof of delivery. Careful not to leave it too long or you run out of time.

19lottie82 · 14/07/2017 09:17

Cookie, I don't think the OP can escalate it just yet. eBay make you wait a week when you open the case, so there is a time frame for you to try and work things out with the seller.

TheDiamondMumcrafter · 14/07/2017 16:50

Yes I have opened a case but have to give the seller time to resolve before they step in. I have had another email from seller asking me to close the case as it will be 'good for both of us' whatever that means. I still do not have the item!

OP posts:
PearlyPinkNails · 14/07/2017 17:00

Definition do not close the case, you'll never get your item.

When the time limit is up you'll get a refund. I would block the seller too.

Gincision · 14/07/2017 18:42

Definitely don't close the case, as head been said many times.

I'd be inclined to reply "Hi, maybe the words I am using are too complicated. Post my item ands I'll close the case. Simple isn't it?"

But that is probably childish...

TheDiamondMumcrafter · 18/07/2017 18:11

Hi. Quick update. Escalated to eBay and they have refunded. Will definitely check feedback more closely from now on. Thanks for all your advice.
