How long is reasonable to wait for payment /contact at end of auction?

I 'sold' an item on Ebay and the auction ended last Thursday (15th March). I invoiced the buyer straightaway, and since then I've heard absolutely nothing. No payment and no email contact whatsoever. How long is reasonable to wait before reporting as unpaid. I've already been billed for the lisating and don't think I should have to pay as I've not been paid myself yet.

Send another invoice and add a note asking for contact to be made with X amount of days. If they fail to respond, report them to Ebay and maybe do a 2nd chance offer to the next highest bid.

I have already sent her another invoice along with a polite email on Thursday (22nd), just in case there was any confusion. I've just typed out this to send now:

Dear buyer

I still have the leotard here for you, but am still awaiting either payment or email contact from you to let me know what is happening and whether you still want it. I don't want to relist it if you do want it and I really don't want to have to report this as unpaid. Please, please can you contact me regarding this matter as I've now been billed by ebay for the listing. I will wait until Thursday to hear from you. By then it will be two full weeks since the end of the auction. I'm afraid, after then, I will have to relist the item and report as unpaid.

Regards

Aero

Do you think that's acceptable?

That sounds fine, but I would take out the 'please, please'

misdee · 24/03/2007 17:21

sod that, iu wuld report it as unpaid now.

Aero · 24/03/2007 17:38

really misdee? Have to say I am feeling a bit peeved, but she looks like a new ebayer and has only bought two items, both of which have said 'super fast payer'!

Often reporting as unpaid prompts a buyer into paying quick sharp - never had to go the whole way yet - I can send out nice little reminders and messages and get nothing then the minute they receive an item unpaid suddenly I get my money...along with an apology which usually involves a hospital visit or family funeral.
Once paid you just close the dispute

misdee · 24/03/2007 18:48

yup sixlostmonkeys, that always works.

but when isay i have had hospital issues it true

Thanks all - will send without the begging! Then, come Thurs, will report unpaid.

Couldn't wait til today - got fed up with it and will be away next week, so wanted it sorted. Reported as unpaid on Tues and guess what - she's just paid up! Hooray. Thanks misdee (for the 'sod that' post ) et al!
