Do I pay by paypal or cheque

I am new to ebay and have started buying and selling. Is it better / safer to buy and sell using paypal or by cheque. Please can someone help me.

I would use paypal personally as it has the disputes system in place for non-payment and refunds etc

I always use paypal because I am worried that if I was supposed to write a cheque, I would forget.

paypal offers more cover to the buyer.
As a seller its best to offer it as a payment option as you will attract more buyers.

If you are offering something that is collection accept cash on collection only - other wise people pay by paypal, collect then go home and cancel the payment - you then have no proof that they have the item.
