I sent a reminder after 3days, which buyer thought was "shitty".

as in "your shitty email".

I don't want to sell to the rude git.

I replied saying sorry if she thought it was shiity, as it was not my intention.

FFS I can see this ending up being horrid. What can I do?

can u cancel the sale - i dont know how ebay works only ever purchased never sold

u already waited 3 days, why are they stalling anyway....

chocolateface · 16/03/2007 23:07

I'd leave it now until they havn't paid after 7 days and start an unpaid dispute, where ebay will send them a reminder email.
Ban this person from bidding on your items again. (I'm not sure how you do this right mow without actually looking at ebay). In future tell people they must pay or contact you within 3 days of the auction edning. Dont worry too much about getting negative feed backfrom this personyou'd be surprised, and anyway its not the end of the world. If they leave it for you first then leave it for them. You will come across people like this on ebay, unfortunately! I don't think you can actually decide not to sell them the item at the moment, but later you will be able to put it up for a 2nd chance offer.

wait a couple of days then send another reminder. If they dont pay report them and leave negative feedback. Unfortunately there are the odd few who like to bid and not pay.

Thanks for replies, i've been on Ebay to have a look.

I do say in my auctions
"Winning bidder please contact me 48 Hours of auction end with your postal address and preferred method of payment. Payment must be received within 5 working days of auction end. If you are not satisfied please email me before leaving feedback."

and in the email I refered to this and added:

After that time (7 days after the listing closes) an 'unpaid Item reminder' will be sent and eBay will be notified.

Please contact me if you want to send a personal cheque so I can give payment details. Items are shipped after payment clears. Many thanks.

NOTE: eBay states that buyers who do not meet the seller?s terms as outlined in the item listing are not permitted to bid on or buy the item.

She replied she;d been ill and will send postal orders tomorrow, and said no need to send shity email!

Do you think it was 'shitty' ? I hope not. I'll see if they turn up! All this hassle for less than £3.

I have blocked them from future bids.

sadly, prepare yourself for negative feedback. sounds like she's the type to put something nasty.

Negative feedback can be mutually withdrawn if you both agree to withdraw it

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 17/03/2007 03:55

You can say payment must be recieved 3 or 5 days after auction ends, but that is really a moot point as e-bay requires a 7 day time frame between winning and not paying before they'll do anything about it. If you cancel a sale, or leave negative feedback before the 7 day period, the buyer can actually retalliate against you and any negative feedback they leave you for pulling the sale won't be removed, because they are still within the 7 day limit set by e-bay. (I used to put that in my terms too, but went on the discussion boards, and someone pointed out this fact to me) If the buyer wants to get really sticky about it, they can report you, and you could get in trouble.

Rise above it - if you had a real life shop there would be a bit of unpleasantness sometimes and ebay is no different.

You just need to wind up this transaction as quickly as poss without irritating the customer further even though she is bang out of order.

As others suggested, you can add her to your list of blocked bidders so she won't be able to buy anything from you again.

Try not to spend too much mental and emotional energy on it

wotzsaname · 17/03/2007 13:33

Thanks all.

You have been very helpfull. I will change my words from '5 'working days' to '7 days', even though it is still the same deadline date. I have been on ebay since 2001 and so I probably need to look at all the new T&C's.

She has a few neg and bad feedbacks. I have added her to blocked buyers.

ebay actually have a 3 day standard reminder email if I havent heard from a buyer I use that.

as others have said you get some nasty pieces of work on ebay, how are you supposed to know she is ill her reply was rude and offensive.

I would probably have replied to her that I was sorry to hear she had been ill but that you sent out reminders after 3 days if you had heard nothing from the buyer, and you look forward to her payment.
