Buyer claiming item is faulty- but then said he fixed it

I sold my old iPhone on eBay. It was in full working order but had a cracked screen, which I stated in the listing. I also provided photos of the cracked screen and the rest of the handset. The buyer said the phone has arrived but claims the vibrator switch is broken, and has asked me for a £20 discount. I know the switch was working when I sent it so I asked him to provide a video showing how the switch is not working. He then asked to send the phone back, but also told me he has now repaired the switch. I don't know what to do next, but I have a feeling he just wants to get some money off. WWYD?

He's altered it, so he's accepted it. It's his. If he's told you this through ebay messages they will be able to see it if he did open a case.

In principle yes, but if he opens a not as described case he willwil and eBay will force a refund.

i'd be saying "Wow! How did you fix it?! Tell me more!"

You probably have to refund. And put him on your blocked bidder slist, of course.
