Am I going to get my ipod or not?

I won an ipod on ebay on Feb 22nd. It was brand new. Seller had over 1600 transactions in a year with 13 negative feedback. He didn't accept paypal so did a bank transfer on Friday 23rd. I got an email from him saying that money had cleared on Tuesday 27th and that he'd post the ipod - recorded delivery...... nothing. Emailed him that weekend (March 3rd) - he was on holiday and would post on 6th (Tuesday). Nothing - emailed on Wednesday (7th) and he replied would post asap. NOTHING. Last weekend (10th) I emailed again and no have had no response.
In the middle of all this he suddenly is no longer a registered user - I think that was about March 3rd. Last week I started a dispute - he replied saying don't worry I'd get my ipod. Can't understand why he'd reply if he had no intention of sending the ipod.
That was rather confusing - sorry! I think I have given up hope now. How do i get my money back or can't I? Don't know how long to wait before I order an ipod from somewhere else. I think I'll order from somewhere reliable next time.

Sorry can't really offer much advice here (I'm sure someone else can)
It would have been easier to get the money back if you had been able to pay by paypal. Maybe if you contacted your bank and explain, there may be some protection through them with it being a transfer?

Did you by chance keep a note of the sellers address and phone number? Could you give him a ring?

Fingers crossed for you

He didn't accept paypal otherwise I'd have done that.I have no address or phone number. I think I'll never see it or my money again.

have you emailed ebay about it?

what about ebay live help?

There is Ebay buyer standard protection programme - for those who haven't paid by credit card or paypal. I have started a dispute which I can escalate into a claim after 30 days. It covers purchases up to £120 minus £15 for processing. Mine was £86.50 so that's ok. I don't quite understand who pays - it sounds like ebay does.
