how long for funds to clear into paypal account?

i bought a rubbish item off ebay and the seller says they've refunded me and it'll appear in my paypal account in 7 days. thing is, they've been stringing this out for so long it's very very close to the 60 day limit for me to launch a complaint.

is it true that it can take 7 days to clear? or are they stringing me along so that i can't file a dispute on ebay?

help will be very much appreciated!

it would appear straight away they are leading you on..

3sEnough · 14/03/2007 09:11

Its definitely instant - they're talking rubbish. Complain.

macwoozy · 14/03/2007 09:13

Unless it's an e cheque from paypal which would then take 7 - 9 days to clear.

3sEnough · 14/03/2007 09:14

Yes - but why would you refund by echeque? I would ask them how they paid you.

smeeinit · 14/03/2007 09:15

im with the others,it would appear straight away, unless they are refunding via e cheque which would take longer,up to 10-14 days.
i would def contact them again and tell them if the funds are not in your paypal account by friday you will be filing a claim with ebay against them.
i had this before when i bought a piece of "tiffany" jewellery which was absoulute tat,i never did get a refund but the seller was struck off from ebay.

i think i might launch the dispute, and if the funds appear, close it. i think they don't want me to be able to complain.

any news?

3andnomore · 14/03/2007 19:24

also, the e-cheque would appear in the pay pal account immediantely, just as funds not cleared...

PeachyClair · 14/03/2007 19:41

It can take seven days to clear in a normal account but not on paypals BUT before you go in blazing if not received- DH just managed to track down £215 that payPal ahd got an account number wrong on and was in a holdinga ccount- Nationewide knew whose money it was, but sat on it . Lots of it has been there since last summer, when we could abrely afford to eat after WTC messed up our money.

Don't go past the 60 days though- its not worth the risk, they know the rules too. Lodge a complaijt and remove it if and when you receive the cash.

peachyclair!

i've logged a dispute and emailed them. haven't heard back yet.

update: the funds aren't in my paypal account, the 60 days to log a dispute are up, so i'm really glad i started a dispute last week. they keep emailing me put-offs so that in the dispute it's always my turn to respond. my god, this has been a real pain in the btt.
