A dress arrived with a hole in it (described as new without tags). I've requested a return and seller has said to send it back and they'll refund.

Is this the correct way of doing it?

Also, I want them to pay for the return postage. Do I send it back at my own cost then get a refund for the purchase price, original postage and the return postage?

Haven't used ebay in ages and have forgotten how it works - any help would be fantastic.

I am sure you will get a better answer soon however I think if they except the return you should be able to print a return label via ebay at their expense. I had this at Christmas, asked to send something back but was a shop seller. They said I could but no label was available. Re asked them to accept return via ebay properly for a return label and when they finally did I could then print one. Hopefully you can do the same. Sorry bit sketchy but not returned much. They maybe trying it on so you pay?

Did you open an official return request with eBay, or just message the seller asking to return it?

If not the former then you should do that. It keeps everything by the book, avoids problems down the line and you will be supplied with a pre paid returns label.
