Feedback?

When I am selling I leave feedback after I have recieved it and if I am buying I leave it when the item has arrived.
Some of the things I sold a while ago haven't had feedback left would you normally go and do it anyway or wait for them?

I don't understand why sellers don't leave feedback as soon as they've received payment. After all the buyer has completed their part of the transaction. It might be that the buyers are waiting for you as the seller to leave feedback first.

If you are happy with the way the buyer has paid, then leave feedback whether they have or not.

Freckle, because that leaves sellers wide open to being accused of not sending an item or having a misleading description - the transaction isn't all about who the buyer has paid. When selling, I only leave feedback when the buyer either tells me they are happy with the item or have left feedback for me.

I always say on my packing slip that I'll leve feedback when they let me know they're happy with the item.

when selling I leave feedback and say what date I posted the item.

I have only been a buyer. I leave feedback when I get the item

I got negative feedback from a seller after I left them negative due to a shocking ebay experience. There is a facility where you can dispute the feedback you have been given.

It seems to be mainly new people and I actually emailed a couple to check their item arrived and had no reply so didn't want to leave feedback until they have confirmed.

Feedback is voluntary so don't expect all buyers/sellers to actually leave it.
Feedback should be left when the transaction is complete and both parties satisfied. Payment isn't an option and is only the start of the process so don't leave feedback when your buyer has paid. After payment many a number of things can go wrong: items lost in post, buyer giving wrong delivery address, lack of communication etc.
Nikkie, in my opinion you are doing the right thing. Leaving feedback when you have received an item and are satisfied is a good way to allow the seller to know all is ok - and like you do, they should then leave feedback for you.
As feedback is optional I'd say don't leave feedback unless you have had FB from them. I don't risk this - just incase someone wants to play silly games and neg once they have received pos.
I usually contact a buyer to ask if they have received their item safe and well. Sometimes they reply, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they then leave FB, sometimes they don't. I consider I have done all i can and simply just don't bother with the FB for them.
Asking for FB to left is a no no. It winds many people up and you could end up receiving FB you didn't want.

With newbies you'd expect them to be leaving feedback so that you would give them some.

The only thing to expect with eBay is the unexpected..

But you're right, there used to be a time when you knew a newbie because they would be pestering you for Feedback. Maybe the new system is putting people off. I'm anicipating much less feedback actually being left from now on.
I've smiled a lot in the past with newbies who plead for feedback. I reckon a lot don't actually care what they are buying or selling....they just want to see that magical number next to their name
