Can you still make money on eBay?

I used eBay a lot about 7-10 years ago. Absolutely loved it made quite a bit of money on old stuff not needed anymore but in great condition. I have quite a pile growing and moving so need a good sort out but all I hear lately is pop it on eBay you won't get much but at least you get rid of it.
Is it worth the time anymore? For good quality items, clothes, furniture children's toys and games or is it just people looking for ridiculous bargains?

Once you have factored in the PayPal fees and then the eBay fees..then recorded postage as there is so many scammers out there claiming they didn't receive their package, I don't think it's worth it at all, unless it's a highly sought after or expensive item.

I think most people sell on their local Facebook selling pages now.

I think it's great still, but I sell clothes mostly and get some good money

But I only sell the quality of stuff I'd buy myself, not a threadbare tshirt or anything, i think the market for literally being able to sell anything on there has disappeared

You make more money by not buying expensive stuff in the first place.

I abandoned it this year after getting nothing but scammers, PayPal fees are high as is evats skice and no matter what PayPal find in favour of the buyer

I use gumtree instead. Collection only and it's free.

No. Bad for sellers. But great for buying!

I just use gumtree or local Facebook selling sites. eBay isn't worth the hassle anymore.

You can sell clothes on Gumtree? How does that work - do people expect to be able to try things on (I wouldn't want that)

I don't know how people can make money selling from e bay. Yes the fees are extortionate and the postage is high now. Small items are just not worth it, I charity a lot of old clothes, you don't make any money. even designer goods, are hard too, you may pay £1000 for a bag, and sell it a few years later in very good condition for £150, on top of that, you have sellers fees and postage, so you hardly make any money.

I'm having a good clear out of stuff as we seem to have a lot of clutter at the moment!

Yes it's definitely worth it
I sell mostly clothes and shoes.

Wear my clothes for a season then sell whilst stil in fashion and only ever in Tip Top condition
Also sell kids clothes and shoes but again only pristine barely worn items
Anything that is even slightly worn goes to charityshop as I only sell things I would love to receive myself

I have been selling for over ten years and love it and am seriously considering moving into it full time
I then save up this money for holidays etc

there are a lot of chancers out there - or I am just bitter. I sold a limited edition dress from a branded store. brand new, tags etc. some 3 weeks later buyer wants to send it back as they are disasppointed as it looks worn. I could say no but they'll only raise it with ebay and get their money back that way - but in my view 3 weeks is more than enough for the buyer to have bloody well worn it and just be chancing it.
