eBay claim that baby clothes sell for £11 on average: am I the only one who's sceptical?

eBay sent out an email recently with this link .

It suggests that sellers can expect to make an average of £11 per item by selling a (second hand) item of baby clothing, an average of £12 for selling a doll or toy etc. This is supposedly based on average prices during 2006.

I can't see how that is really the average price. Loads of items sell for 99p or thereabouts in the baby clothes section, so in order for £11 to be the average there would have to be many items selling at £20 plus. Where are they all? I'd be interested to hear how eBay justify these averages.

maybe its the baby bundles that sell for that price in the babywear category?

But if you do an advanced search for bundles of baby clothing (ie completed items), most have sold for under £10 and many haven't sold at all.

And the advert has a picture of a single babygro with "£11" stamped across it.

Is it an average price of what actually sold? You can do all sorts of things with statistics!

Maybe taking into account designer baby clothes which cost a fortune the average works out?

How very strange..£11 for an item of baby clothing !
Maybe they missed out the word Boden (or Ralph Lauren) as it seems to me thats the only stuff that sells for over £10!

it doesnt say second hand but still £11 would have thought less than half that
