Auction- buyer dosent want the item now

Sold an item on ebay . Auction ended just had a message from buyer sayinf he dosent want it now ? What action do I tale next inorder not to incur fees from ebay ?

Go to ebay resolution centre & cancel transaction (reason = buyer request). This will stop Ebay from deducting fees. Do not relist or resell item until Ebay has confirmed that Buyer has confirmed cancellation.

If you think buyer is a pest then put them on your blocked bidders list.
You could file Non-paying bidder case, but ime, better to be nice about it if you can.

If open a non payment case. That way the buyer will get a negative strike against them for not paying.

The buyer know what he was doing when he bid on your item. No you have to relist and wait another week to sell.

Its really annoying id like him to get a strike against his record really total time waster...still have to wait two days to do that though ....

Okay cancelled it put at " buyers request " says i can relist it and credit will.be given within 24 hrs ? So can I relist it straight away ?

The risk with lottie's strategy is... if you open a case with an unwilling buyer, they may just ignore it & take the strike & not give a toss. This is the very best case scenario.

Or They may pay up... and then the item somehow never arrives. Or when it does arrive, it's not really to their liking. Not quite how you described. Seller loses all fees & pays for return postage to boot. Oh, and you get strike on your record.

I have no problem filing NPB with buyers who don't communicate, but I'd be wary about pissing one off before they even paid. Path of least resistance for me.

1 - opening a non payment case will mean the buyer gets a black mark against their account, this will hopefully stop them doing similar in future to other sellers.

2 - that's why you send everything with a proof of delivery.
A private seller is under no obligation to accept a return for a change of mind, and even if they did, why would they "lose fees"?

OK there is a very very slight chance that a non payment case would lead to a buyer to pay then deberartely cause trouble, but I very much doubt it.
And besides does that mean you're saying we should bow down to all non paying bidders so we don't accept them? Nonsense.
Non paying bidders need to accept the consequences for messing sellers about.

Oh and finally if the non payer ignores a cancellation request (which is very common, even if they ask to cancel the order!) it takes ten days to close out (until you get your fees back)! Longer than a non payment case.

I just cancelled a transaction yesterday with a bidder who said they had changed their mind and weren't going to pay - I got my final value fee refunded immediately and was able to relist straight away as well. So I didn't need to open non-payment case, and also no risk of buyer 'retaliation'. I did message the buyer back, thanking them for at least letting me know, but making the point that it was very annoying and they shouldn't do it to anyone else!

You only get your fees back straight away if the winning bidder agrees to the cancellation request. A lot of the time they just ignore it, even if they asked to cancel! Then you need to wait over a week until it times out.
