postage partially refunded

I have partially refunded excess postage paid by buyers via paypal, but I don't seem to be getting any credits (ie. credit on the percentage taken by ebay on p&p charges) for this through on my ebay account - do they eventually come through or do I have to do something?

I just found the answer on ebay - they don't give credit back if you refund any excess postage. Paypal do, but ebay don't. Tough lesson learnt for me.

Why did you refund excess postage?

because I had really overestimated it and said I would in the listings.
I feel stupid as I didn't realise ebay take 10% of P&P costs either. I will look more into understanding size & weight of parcels and put a more realistic charge on the listing.
I just posted 2 items - one pretty small but too bulky to go through as a large letter, and one pretty bulky & weighty and they both cost £3.95 to send. The £3.95 price bracket seems to be pretty broad.
My own fault - I'll know better next time!

Oh I wouldn't do that in the future, I mean, do become more clued up on p&p but I always slightly overestimate and use it towards profits basically

It's up to a buyer to buy based on the p&p as well as the cost of the item - if they find the p&p cost too high then they shouldn't bid

oh i know - cross with myself for not being more savvy about it, but a lesson learned!! It won't be happening again, believe me!

That's a nice thing to do though potato - too many sellers over charge on postage and won't refund, even if asked to do so.

I stopped adding P&P and now list as inclusive (so called free postage) although I weigh and check prices first. It means you don't get less than 5 for P&P in the star ratings as well as not being a problem if you misjudge the amount.

If someone buys or bids it should mean that they have accepted the costs but you do still get the ones that will try to get a refund. Making it inclusive makes it more difficult for them to complain.
