I've just picked up a chair I've bought that said it was in perfect condition.
However it's got some small paint flecks on, one small chip and the handle for the lifting it up and down mechanism is broken.

I'm not sure what to do now as I don't want to buy the chair new as it'll only get marks on it from my son anyway.

Wwyd? New to ebay so not sure what I should be asking of the seller.

When you say you've picked it up - do you mean you collected it in person and paid cash?

No I paid through PayPal over ebay. My husband picked it up and didn't think to say anything to them.

Sorry I didn't pay with PayPal. I used my bank card through eBay.

Really you should have said at the time it wasn't as described. If you want to return the item you need to go through the resolution process. Go to your Ebay account . Click on Help and Contact at the top of the page then click on > resolve a problem >resolving buying problems > Item not as described > open a request. It will then lead you through the process.

if item not as described you will have to prove return before eBay will refund. Have you contacted the seller?

Seller is v stupid not taking cash - an unscrupulous buyer would claim not received and get a full refund. Not that I am suggesting you should do that. But it may give you a bit of leverage with the seller?

If it was collected in person you had the opportunity to inspect it and reject it.

Technically you can open a not as described case, but you will have to return it by a tracked method, which will be a PITA for a large collection only item.

Unless you can appeal to the sellers better nature. Contact them first and see what they say.

However, I do agree with secretspy
Your husband should have inspected it upon collection..... Unless it's a really expensive item, personally, I'd just take the hit on this one.
