Writing as if a private seller when it's a business. Dodgy?

I've been watching a pushchair and was about to click buy it now when I looked at the sellers other items. It's all pushchairs and prams, far too many to belong to one person. And their feedback (mostly good, a few negative) all seems to be about pushchairs too.

Which is fine but the descriptions are all super personal. Things like "my son loved this buggy but we don't use it any more", "I only used it on holiday once", "we only used it for 6 months and am sad to sell it" etc.

I'm not sure why but it makes feel a bit nervous about buying. It's a bit dishonest I suppose but is it just a normal selling tactic?

If you like the buggy and their feedback if fine, does it matter?

I know of a few people who are serial pram/buggy swappers. They get bored or don't like them. More money than sense.

I've also seen this on eBay for pushchairs, I would say steer clear.

Is the seller you've looked at also shipping only? This puts me off a little too when it's supposedly a private seller.

I don't think it's just a serial buggy swapper. We're taking hundreds!

I kind of feel like it shouldn't matter but I don't like the dishonesty. If they aren't honest right from the off how easy is it going to be sorting out any problems was my main worry.

If it was something cheaper and easier to return I would just go for it but a buggy is awkward thing to deal with of it all goes wrong.

If they're a business seller, they fall under distance selling regs. They also are liable for tax.

You really don't want to be involved with anyone who is a tax dodger. I'd report them to ebay. Their personalised listings are an attempt to avoid being spotted by ebay as fraudulent private sellers

Good point Lynda. I haven't even thought about that aspect. They definitely aren't set up as a shop. I really thought it was just someone selling their old buggy.

They are down as no returns as well.

Hundreds?! Does sound dodgy then.

All no returns means is you aren't supposed to return for silly reasons, as in "what an ugly colour", "I didn't realise the wheels were so big!"

Anyway, no returns is meaningless, because whose to say when wrong wheels are ugly or faulty?

I'd probably buy if I loved the buggy, but I'd look hard elsewhere, too.

Except a business seller is not allowed to specify 'no returns' lljkk, because that would put them in breach of distance selling regs where you are absolutely allowed to return something because the green doesn't match your baby's eyes.

I know no returns on eBay is a meaningless statement but it does increase the likelihood of a seller being difficult if there is a problem. I've had that before with a big item and it was more hassle than it was worth.
