My dd placed a winning bid on an item I don't want.

I've installed the app on iPad, dd was playing on it and unbeknownst to me placed a bid (it said I'd won the item but seems more like a Buy It Now) on a shitty item from a seller in China which comes to £10 including postage. I don't want it! I've messaged to seller twice to ask if I can cancel it but have not heard anything back (I don't know how good their English will be).
Where do I stand? Can I contact eBay about it?

Shitty item sounds rude so I take that back, but it is definitely something that I don't want to buy.

You can cancel the transaction just follow the steps.

I didn't even know that was an option. Found it in the 'More options' but it says "Unfortunately, it is too late to cancel your order" when I click on 'Cancel this order' .

Your DD will have had to have found the item and gone through three separate confirmation screens to have bought this. I don't know how old she is but you need to read her the riot act.
I'm not saying for a second that this is you, but I used to sell a lot on eBay and whenever anyone had buyer's remorse it was always blamed on a child, and always a 7 year old boy for some reason. It's a pain for a seller to have to relist and usually still incurs listing charges.
You don't need a non-paying bidder mark against you as it can make bidding on future items very difficult.

I wouldn't pay £10 to avoid a non paying bidder mark personally. Have you already paid?

Funnily enough she is 7, but is definitely female and I have certainly had words with her about it. She will have whizzed through whatever confirmation is needed without a second thought. It is a business seller in China, and the item is always for sale iykwim.

It is a mermaid costume age 7-8: £2.99 with £6.99 postage. I definitely haven't got buyer's remorse because I didn't buy it! To be honest I think she thought she was adding it to a basket, and she wasn't to know about it being binding etc etc.

I'd buy the item but take the cost for half of it out of her pocket money. I'd also change the settings on the app so that nobody can buy anything without putting in the password.

Yes definitely will do (password) if I don't uninstall the app! I can afford it but it's annoying. I have already been pondering the pocket money reimbursement route or keeping it back as an upcoming birthday present for her.

MyNewBear I've looked at the app settings and can't see where you can change it so a password has to be entered before a bid is confirmed? Is there something I'm missing as it would be great if I could have that setting, just in case.

You should be able to make it so you have to log into the app each time it's opened. Newer versions may even let you do fingerprint password.

There's a difference between understanding things have to be paid for and understanding that you can make a purchase without handing over cash or details. Though she probably did wonder and thought it was worth a try!

Er yes AnnaMarlowe especially when they're excited about clapping eyes on the naff mermaid costume of their dreams (lalalemon). She came to me all happy and said "Look what I've put in the basket" - it was another naff outfit which I removed from the basket, then I noticed there was another thing counting down with seconds to go saying I was the highest bidder. That was the mermaid thing. 7 year olds don't tend to have a great grasp of budgeting and debt management.

Anyway, thanks to the helpful people, and those who've been there with their DC, and it's all sorted now.

Personally i wouldn't pay. You will get a non-payer mark (or whatever its called against your account) but i think you need 3 of these to be banned. I wouldn't worry about it

I wouldn't have paid either - one none paying strike won't make a difference at all.
