Adding buy it now price/changing to buy it now

I have an auction running, no bids, and a bidder has offered a fair buy it now price. However, the amount they have offered is not 40% more than the starting price. Can I change the auction to BIN? Does the 40% only apply to adding BIN to an auction. Confused.

You could just end the item if it has no bids and relist as a BIN - you can't if there are bids on but okay if none as far as I recall.

No, just let them bid. If they want it they'll do that. Someone always tries this.

Ended it and relisted. I was very happy with the price, item had previously not sold at a higher price.
