No payer - can I cancel the sale and avoid fees rather than open a case?

I sold a bundle for 99p and my other bits all sold, all paid for. Except this one bundle. Buyer has been on eBay for years but feedback below ten. As its such a low value I can't see them paying up. Tbh I don't want to make another trip into town just for them. I'm on holiday this weekend too. I could take their stuff to the charity shop today while posting the other bundles......

If I can cancel the sale, how long after it ended? I have emailed twice but no reply. They have only bought one thing this year.....

I should know better now selling at such low value. It always brings out the bidders who don't want the stuff!

In your position I would open an unpaid item case which can be done after 48 hrs has elapsed since the sale. This gives the buyers a few more days to pay. I believe if there is no response the sale will be cancelled. I would be careful about cancelling too many sales from your end as if you cancel the buyer can still leave feedback.

Oh if you send a cancellation request the buyer can refuse to consent to close the case in which case you will still have to pay the eBay fees. If they agree or fail to respond within a certain timescale your fees will be refunded
