Paypal eCheques

Does anyone know why paypal sometimes randomly makes payment by eCheque which takes ages to clear whilst the money is taken out of the bank account? I've used eBay for years for buying/selling and most transactions go through smoothly - my bank account being debited instantly as required. Yet this week I made a purchase for £3.80 and ebay/paypal decide to make the payment by blasted eCheque which will take about 10 days to clear - how embarassing. Why?? There are plenty of cleared funds in my bank account btw.

Apparently this can happen randomly. I wouldn't be embarrassed, I'm a business seller and it happens quite regularly. Appreciate its a PITA for sellers and buyers though.

I have had an echeque payment recently and the dammed thing needed presenting twice by the buyer which held up posting for nearly 20 days,the poor woman was beside herself and was so distraught but we got there in the end,funnily enough I have not had feedback to say she received the item but I'm sure I would have heard if it had not arrived.

This can happen if the card you have linked to ebay has expired. You need to update card details.
