Selling second hand clothes on eBay in December - worth it?

I've made a few hundred pounds on eBay since the summer, successfully selling clothes and other unwanted stuff from the loft.

I have more items to list, but just wondering if it's worthwhile as we get closer to Christmas. Do sales drop off in December as people concentrate their buying power on Christmas gifts?

Anyone have any experience?

I'm really interested in the answers you get to this question, because I only started selling on eBay this year.

I've been doing well with party dresses/shoes (although I'm finished after this weekend) and also things that I think may go as Christmas presents, but I've avoided putting "ordinary" stuff up.

I have no factual basis for this decision!

I have interest and have sold the odd clothing item, but mainly smellies and gifty items are selling

I would avoid selling childrens clothes this time of year unless very high speck items,and I also scale down all my other sales from this week as you only need one or two items not arrived to wipe out any profit you may be making if you don't send recorded delivery,this time of year seems to have a very high amount of INR'd and you can't rely on post to keep your feedback score at its best,I start again mid January and its always worked well for me.If you do decide to sell items now I would ajust your processing time to 2/3 days to give post time to arrive in the specified time.

Not everyone looking on eBay is looking for Xmas presents, or even celebrating it :) I'm glued to my phone looking for & bidding on/buying maternity wear on eBay and am glad people are listing it. Which reminds me, it's exactly the right time of year for listing fancy party clothes for Xmas / new year parties.

Hmm....I hadn't thought of the postal issues this time of year. I do use MyHermes, though.

I might list a couple of bits on a 7 day auction. I have a knitted dress and some padded gilets which probably won't sell outside the depths of winter. Then I'll probably stop after that.

No maternity stuff here though, Mouldypeach! Long since flogged.....

I put the occasional bit of kids clothing on for sale as my children grow out of things (if they are still good quality). I don't really consider the time of year, although I tend to stick summer clothes on in the spring and summer only. Other clothes, I just put them on for sale as and when they become available.

I recently sold a nice boys' shirt. But, come to think of it, I did describe it as 'ideal for wearing at Christmas' because it was smarter than everyday wear.

If you have clothes to sell and not other, more seasonal items eg toys, gifts, etc, why not give them a go?

Specialist clothes like maternity clothes and specific, named Monsoon / Coast dresses have done ok for me. I've held back on baby clothes - when I was due a January baby, Ididnt want the hassle of storing clothes or having to go in to town to the sorting office if I missed a delivery over Christmas.
