Advice please? How soon must I refund if item lost in post. It has been two weeks, regular post, I'm putting a claim in, buyer asking for refund. What if I refund and the item turns up?

Refund now. You will have to refund regardless if Royal Mail compensate you or not, and they don't always! You don't want to drag the refund process, as if you do it will encourage the buyer to leave negative / neutral feedback.

PS you can ask the buyer to let you know if it turns up (unlikely after two weeks) and you can send them a pre pod label to return it, or they can pay you for it, but you are relying on their honesty.

Refund now, it's damage limitation time. Post Office is very good about refunds, in my experience, within limits.
