seller precautions when selling branded jewellery

I'm going to list a piece of jewellery which will sell for around £100 (think Pandora/Tiffany/etc) & want to protect myself against scams. (Have heard of situations where buyer states it's not authentic then returns fake item for refund in place of original).

Any tips or advice on how to avoid this? Or general advice on protecting myself from from fraudsters?

maybe go to a jeweller to sell the items instead. Less money but less hassle.

You take the risk when you sell anything on eBay, as a different item can always be returned and the seller will pretty much always be forced to refund. TBH I wouldn't count a bit of jewellery worthy £100 ish a high risk item. As I explained, there is a risk but it's very minimal, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I haven't used it, but have seen a 'make an offer' sale, instead of an auction. I assume that, as well as looking at the price offered, you could look at the feedback on the buyer, to decide whether they looked genuine.

Yes you can check the feedback and decide if you want to sell when someone "makes an offer", but you must also stipulate a buy it now price, and if someone chooses to pay this and "buy it now", you won't have this choice. I don't think a scammer will be that interested in "making an offer" if they're fairly confident they'll be getting their money back (and the item), anyway!
