Dear Ebayer - do you think I am stupid? Can't find the article eh?

I bought a bag yesterday for probably less than 1/2 the retail price. It's advertised as new and I'm sure the seller is gutted it didn't make more but that's the way Ebay goes.
Today I have a message - apparently she put her stuff for auction in a box and now she can't find it. She spent all yesterday looking for it Hmm

So rather than make me wait she's cancelled the transaction.

Yeah right!

Unless she's living in Buckingham Palace there are only a limited number of places that a BOX of auction stuff could be. She must have had it relatively recently to list it. So I've messaged back saying I wanted the bag for my stressed dd (which is true, she really liked it) and so we will wait for her to find it and please reinstate the transaction. If she doesn't do so I think I will report her to Ebay. Obviously I now have alerts set up both on her and the item description. She has entirely positive feedback except for one neutral when she cancelled a transaction for a jumper - which had sold for £1.50 Hmm

Really cross about this actually. If you want something to sell for a certain price then set it off at that level. Don't waste people's time bidding and then think they will be dim enough to believe you can't find something.

And Ebayer - if you happen to be a mumsnetter too - then yes this is about you and I am not going to be taken for a fool thanks very much.

I've had this happen to me. It's frustrating.

Infortunately there's nothing really that can be done about it. I think you can report to eBay. But there's not much they can do as if you've already been refunded/not paid then you've not lost out. V frustrating though.

Northernlurker · 11/10/2015 20:39

Bloody cheek of her - she's just messaged again saying that if she finds it she'll let me know when she relists it! I've pointed out I've already won it once! I have also suggested she withdraws the umpteen other items she has for sale as no doubt she can't find them either.
I'll let her reply to that then I'm going to leave negative feedback and report it. I don't mind honest mistakes but this is just bollocks.

You can't report this to eBay, well you can but I do t think they will be bothered. As she has cancelled the sale she will get a defect, that's about it. But these things do happen...... If you see it being re listed then I would leave a negative but TBH unless that happens I'd just refrain from leaving FB.

19lottie82 · 11/10/2015 21:33

And in fairness if she "finds it" then all she can do is relist as she won't be technically allowed to sell it to you outside eBay....

JeffsanArsehole · 11/10/2015 21:47

Yes, you can report as a non performing seller

Northernlurker · 11/10/2015 22:47

I followed the links for non performing seller and it just takes you to feedback so I've left negative. Fair enough she refunded straight away but if what she says is true I would have expected her to offer refund or offer to keep looking for the item.

she hasn't refunded you yet?

hooliodancer · 12/10/2015 12:51

I have had this happen. 'Lost it' my arse. Wish I had left feedback!

Northernlurker · 15/10/2015 23:38

Thank you. I have filled that in after looking on ebay tonight and finding most of the items she previously had for sale and 'could not find' now relisted! She hasn't listed the bag yet but I will keep an eye out.
