Item showing as delivered with signature - buyer says not received. WWYD.

I've sold an item on ebay, buyer paid after 4 days. I sent item by courier recorded delivery. Buyer messaged me to say she'd not received item. I checked with courier company, they've given me date and time of delivery and a signature. I've forwarded the signature to the buyer along with date and time. She says it's not her signature. Various messages back and forth. Her messages have sounded a bit strange at times. If she escalates the claim to ebay, from what I've read and talked to ebay about, I think the case would be settled in my favour as a seller. We both have 100% feedback and I feel a bit stuck as to what to do. The courier company has said I can file a claim for missing item - which I've now done but I can't see why they'll refund me given that they can prove it has been delivered.

WWYD, how does this all sound to you?

All you can do is tell the buyer to open a case (which you will win and if u do they buyer won't be able to leave feedback) and then contact the courier and push that the item wasn't received and push for an investigation. In fairness you don't NEED to do the latter but it's the decent thing to do.

PS I'd advise the seller to open a case as occasionally eBay will issue a non fault refund. (Which means you won't have to pay for it and you won't get a defect)

Buyer has opened a case anyway, then after 8 days she can escalate for ebay to intervene. I've provided tracking info and mentioned signature can be viewed. Assuming ebay find in my favour (which I think they'll have to), does that mean I don't have to refund buyer so she's left with 'no parcel' yet she's paid for it?

I'm sure it's not me but I have the exact reverse problem at the moment, my parcel was "delivered" by parcelforce but the signature isn't mine.

I opened a case which the seller won as someone had signed for the package.

This is a tricky situation as neither party is at fault and the delivery companies are getting away with not doing their job properly.

In my case I've spoken to the post man and I'm pretty sure he signed for he package himself and left it on the doorstep and it disappeared from there.

I've had a similar thing. Buyer definitely signed. They then did a charge back on their credit card from PayPal who took the money (about 300) out of my PayPal account then started hassling me for the debt. I counter claimed under the PP sellers protection policy and after 3 months and about 30 emails got my money back.

A couple weeks later I was casually flicking through eBay for similar item then whaddayaknow guess what my good old ex buyer had up for sale? For about twice my listing price (although they had paid zero in the end after their refund had come in).

Not suggesting your buyer's dodgy like mine was btw. Thank goodness you got signed for. Good luck.

Life ... I fully see what you mean, and completely understand. If it was the other way round I'd be outraged. And I think it's very, very wrong that this can be allowed to happen on signed items! In my case, the buyer just doesn't ring true in things she's said. She's contradicted herself in one email. I can't be sure she has the parcel but I strongly suspect so. I obviously don't want to say anything to her along those lines, as I could be completely wrong and she could be genuine.

I hate situations like this. I like everything just to be honest and fair. I don't want either of us to be out of pocket.

That's shocking Inter I'd have reported her to ebay! if you can even do that

This type of thing is more common than you'd think (IE courier signing for items then they go missing). I've had it happen twice with myhermes and once with RM.

Out of interest 19lottie82 how did you find out and what did you do with respect to the buyer?
