People not leaving feedback. Why?

Understand if you buy/sell loads you may miss the odd feedback etc. But was having a look at feedback of some folk we are waiting to hear from, item posted yonks ago, and they have never left any feedback. Not ever, for anyone, good bad or indifferent. Just seems a bit odd to me.

And also, do you wait for feedback before leaving yours? As buyers we leave it as soon as item arrives, as sellers we wait for our buyer to feedback first.

I always email and politely beg them to leave me feedback and promise to do the same for them. I never leave it first

Sometimes when things have been a little complicated I don't bother. TBH I'd rather not have the feedback than have a neutral or negative left. As long as they have been smooth transactions and they are happy you could email and ask. I don't always remember.

I'm not really bothered if they don't leave it, though of course it's nice to receive a good feedback. But you're right, none is better than neutral or negative.

At one point I was anxious for more feedback to "promote" me to the next level, if you know what I mean. I sent some rather concerned-sounding e-mails to buyers who hadn't bothered, wondering if the item had arrived OK since thay hadn't left any feedback. Most of them then hastily left feedback.

Now as I seller I usually leave feedback as soon as payment is made and when I post the item I email them to tell them its on its way and point out that I have left them good feedback and say that if they are happy with the transaction I would be grateful if they could do the same for me. It usually works !

However, if something subsequently went wrong with the transaction I suppose I would have problems since I had already left good feedback.

Once I didn't leave any feedback deliberately because after I had won the item I was told it was no longer for sale. I was very tempted to leave negative feedback but didn't really want them to do the same for me ! What would you have done ?

As a seller I leave feedback as soon as the item has been paid for in full

As a buyer I leave feedback as soon as the item arrives.

I also do as Algernon does, one thing i can't stand is when sellers wait for you as a buyer to leave feedback before they do.

I actually had a guy who's got over 1000 feedbacks, send me an email to 'gently' remind me to leave him feedback! well I paid immediately after the bidding ended so felt he should leave feedback for me first!

we wait for the buyer to leave feed back first, the transaction isn't over until the buyer receives the item.

we have so many buyers/sellers not leaving fb at all. i suppose it is optional.

Well the ebay automatic emails seems to siggest that the etiquette is for the buyer to provide feedback once they have recieved the item and are ahppy, and for the seller to then leave feedback. The seller shouldn't leave feedback until they know that the transaction is complete - so they need some form of notification fromt he buyer that they are happy with the item, or if they're not then a refund shoudl be given according to seller's terms.

If you provide feedback when you get the payment but before the buyer has the item then you're not providing feedback on the entirety of the transaction - you could end up with requests for unreasonable refunds etc, but you will have already left positive feedback.
