DB won an item £410 from a seller in Portugal with zero feedback

Electronics! Graphics card! To me the most risky buying is computer related. And from a country outside the UK.

I've told him to pay via PayPal.

Does anyone know apart from the obvious what the risks are and any comeback if it goes wrong?

I've just been using my PayPal account and it holds the payment from the seller (in my case) for 21 days so presumably this is universal. It will at least allow DB to receive and test the card.

Or am I being unduly pessimistic?

As long as the seller sends the card tracked postage (can they do that from Portugal)? your DB should be OK with his purchase but to be honest I would never buy from abroad an item this expensive and if you have doubts go with your instinct.

I've emailed him to say pay with PayPal but he's probably still in bed!

I just hope it goes ok for him.

It doesn't make any difference to the buyer of the seller sends it tracked. That's for seller protection, not buyer protection.

Back to the OP..... Yes, as long as he pays via PayPal he will be covered for non delivery, as well as non described items. In essence, if you pay by PayPal it's no riskier than purchasing from the UK.

Many thanks lottie. Hopefully DB paid with PayPal.

Chances are he did OP, it's v difficult to pay with anything but PayPal, it's the default method for most transactions. I think sellers HAVe to offer it unless th item is collection only.
