I've been charged fees for an item that was never collected

I sold an item of furniture a couple of weeks ago but at the last minute the buyer changed her mind. It was for cash on collection. I tried section chance offer but did not get a reply and so I resisted it and resold and it has now been collected (unfortunately for a lot less money the second time around).

Anyhow I assumed that as it comes up as 'buyer has not paid' and because was re listed that eBay would not charge me fees but they have and they are going to direct debit 11 pounds For July when I received received no money. I can't see a way of contacting them to resolve. Any ideas what I should do as I am going to end up paying fees twice on this item (only sold for 25 second time though).

there is a way of contacting them; rummage around and you'll find the online chat. Put your problem across clearly and simply because the other person is not a native English speaker, but they should be able to sort it out for you.

The online chat is beyond useless, I wouldn't waste your time.

Also there is no need. If you agreed with the buyer "changing their mind", you need to submit a cancellation request, to have your fees refunded. If they agree it will be actioned immediately. If they ignore it, after a week the cancellation will be processed and you will have your fees refunded then. (only possible spanner in the works would be if they decline the cancellation, but that doesn't sound like a realistic outcome here).

If you didn't agree to their "change of mind", or they just went incommunicado, then you can open a non paid item case, which still gives them a chance to collect / pay, but if they ignore you will still get your fees back.

I'd move quickly on this though as I think you only have 30 days to do either of the above?

prob pot luck then, 9/10 I've found them terrible for various issues. all they seem to do is relay a script without grasping the actual problem.

and as advised, there is no need for the OP to contact them, all they need to do is submit a cancellation request, which is a very simple task.

you could file an unpaid claim then wait 4 days to get your fees back.

Thanks I've put an unpaid claim in. I thought to would have been pretty obvious given that I re listed the item but obviously not.

In future don't re list until an unpaid item or cancellation request has been finalised. You could end up with a defect if the original buyer decides to pay and you have to cancel the listing or second sale due to only having one of the item!

Lesson learned for sure.
