Three weeks ago I sold a dress on eBay.
The buyer paid immediately but sent me an email the next day to ask to cancel the sale, she said the dress was bought by mistake, that she hadn't read the details properly and now she had she no longer wanted it.
I had already posted the dress so told her so and apologised.

A week later she emailed me and asked where the dress was, it was sent 2nd class so I just said it would probably be there soon.
Over the next two weeks she emailed me every other day telling me the dress had still not arrived.

Three weeks later she has now contacted me and said that she is sick of waiting and as its clearly not going to turn up she wants me to refund her, and if I don't she will open a case and leave negative feedback.

I'm pretty sure she has the dress and is just saying that it wasn't received to get her money back.
I send all items over £10 recorded but this was just below that so it was just sent normal delivery (which I'm kicking myself for now)

Will eBay refund her if she opens a case?
Will they take into consideration the email about cancelling?

Unfortunately yes as you havnt got proof of delivery they will refund.

Send everything tracked.

I used to but I found it to be a waste of money for low value items so only do it with things over £10 now.

unfortunately, as bgm has stated, unless you have proof of delivery (ie you sent it tracked), then you're stuffed.

if you have proof of postage, you can claim the cost of the lost parcel (up to £20) from royal mail.

PS I would tell her that she has to open a case (as long as you can take the defect hit) so you can work with ebay to conduct an investigation in to the missing item. A lot of the time this will put would be scammers off.

Can I ask the make of the dress? Sounds very similar to a rip off I experienced, with a Desigual dress.

It wasn't designer, just a nice Sun dress from next.

She hasn't opened a case yet but is still threatening to if I don't refund her asap.
