Seller refunded money Is this normal?

I recently won a baby outfit on ebay. The auction ended at £2.20 which, granted, isn't a lot of money. I paid immediately with PayPal but received a refund with a comment that the seller was away due to family circumstance.

My initial thoughts were it was strange not to communicate via eBay as I would have been happy to wait for the item to be posted at a later date.

I then thought that the seller wasn't happy with the amount it sold for so refunded with no communication. Other than watching to see if it's re listed is there anything I can do? It just doesn't seem to ring true if that makes sense

Sounds a bit dodgy to me, I wouldn't use that seller again. The outfit will probably be relisted or they could have sold it for more money on another site.

I thought that would be the case. I've just had another look and she's changed the listing to free p&p. So she'll automatically get 5 stars in my feedback in that section. plus time to adjust the listing rather than send me a message just shows she's dodgy. Shall I leave negative feedback?

Personally I would open a case through eBay to stop them doing it again but you won'tt get anything out of it as you've already had your money back, so it's up to you really

if you leave feedback make it factual - "Seller refunded money after winning auction" do not make any comments about your ideas about the seller or anything which could reflect on you.

That way the feedback stays. eBay do remove fb which is derogatory, has swearing in or insulting. Don't have your comments removed. :)

So has it been relisted after you bought & refunded?

Was it £2.20 including postage, then? Coz she'll be selling to you at a loss if it was, I reckon.

Has she cancelled the purchase (you have to agree to that for her to get fees back).

I won a v nice cardi for £0.99 and got an email from the seller telling me her dry cleaner had shrunken it and therefore she was refunding me.
Must say i did not believe it, I think she was disappointed at the price. I didn't bother replying.
A colleague of mine put a load of high street clothes on, all starting a 99p as ebay helpfully adivses you to. All sold for 99p, moslty to the same person. She withdrew and told the buyer she wouldn't be dispatching, and refunded everyone. Cue very irate email from buyer.

Sorry just coming back to this. It sold for £2.20 with £2.80 p&p. It was when she refunded the £5 that I noticed she changed the listing to free p&p
