I got one of those cards through the door this morning from the post office saying they are holiding an item which did not have enough postage on it. I have to pay £2 something to release it.

I've recently bought a number of things from ebay so I cannot yet identify who has done the dirty on me but when I find out, what should I do?

email them and ask fro the money
If you can be arsed over £2!

I would email them! Surely it is them who has to pay the postage, as you have paid 'postage'. Weird to as surely they had it weighed etc.

It does say on ebay rules that if postage is more than seller expected they do have the right to ask buyer for the difference, but surely this would be before posting it or they should have asked/told you!

Don;t forget the new postage rules are much more complicated than the old ones maybe they made a mistake

throckenholt · 15/11/2006 11:49

I would mail them and ask for a refund of the extra.

I once sent a parcel and the stamp fell off it - luckily I had got proof of posting and eventually managed to claim it back off the post office.

I know £2 sounds pathetic but the items I have bought are only up to a few pounds, so adds, potentially, an extra 50% onto the cost. Plus there's the hassle of getting to the sorting office.

No-one has emailed me to say an item has cost more to post than quoted. Oh well, time will tell who it is and I will email them. Annoying and rude though.

personally if it is a low value item I wouldnt collect it from the sorting office, and would e mail the seller when I found out which one it was and tell them what has happened.

I have had this happen to me though a buyer e mailed me to say they had got the parcel from me but there was no postage on it, I know there was but the sticker the post office put on it had obviously come off I did refund the postage though.
