How does eBay deal with non-payers?

After a couple of hundred sales my luck has run out and I have two separate non-payers (with radio silence on comms). Have reported to ebay.

I'm just curious... What does eBay do to the non-payers? Are they banned from buying and if so can they just start up again with a new ID?

Also, presumably leaving negative feedback for these two time-wasters is a must?

Sheeeeeeesh! That's completely ridiculous. What's the point of that system?! So this weirdo who fiercely outbid several other people on three items and then didn't bother to pay or reply to messages just carries on regardless?

with too many strikes they can lose their account, and you can limit buyers with strikes bidding in your settings too.

And no you can't neg or leave a neg comment on a positive rating either. Add them to your blocked bidder list too.

I wasted a lot of time 'communicating' with ebay about this. To keep a long story said what they eventually told me was that each time a buyer fails to pay and its reported they get a strike against their name and after they've received an unspecified number of strikes they are banned and then presumably register again with a different name.

Nowadays when I re-list I put in capital letters at the start of my listing 'Relisted as previous winning bidder failed to pay'. Pointless really I know, but it just makes me feel a bit better.
