what's the best way to get stuff cheap on ebay as I never manage to do so! I always place a bid as soon as I see something I like, even if it has a few days to go...my friend says this is what I'm doing wrong.

At the moment I'm watching a jacket that I really like, it's currently very cheap for what it is and it ends at 11am tomorow so what do I do to get it at a cheap price? I darnt bid on it incase it pushes the price right up!

How do people do it?

best to wait until as late as poss, then keep refreshing the page so you can see when you have been out bid.

Go on tomorrow at 10 45 am and see what the price is, then try and become top bidder. Keep refreshing to make sure you are not out bid.

Remember not to get carried away and only bid to your budget!

I use a sniper programme - www.auctionsniper.com - which places my bids for me automatically in the last few seconds of the auction. It costs peanuts, and is brilliant - you tell it what your maximum bid is, and the rest is done for you. There is a risk however that bids aren't placed - only a small one, but I've missed out on a few things over the years, which is very frustrating. But it's no more of a risk than sitting there waiting for the end of an auction, then not refreshing quickly enough and missing out! The other great advantage is that you don't have to be at the PC for the auction end, you can just check in later and see what happens. There's no guarantee that you'll win, of course, so you have to make sure you tell the programme the maximum you're prepared to bid, then accept that someone might have bid more. But it's great for ensuring that you're not revealing your hand to other bidders.

use 2 computers! bid on one and refresh on the other, have the bid now screen ready to go so you can quickly up your bid.

i too bid early, dh virtually has to sit on me to stop me and claims i cost us another £200 on our car because of it!

good luck!

ps: auction sniper sounds good, am going to check it out but i do love the excitement of bidding lol!
