Have I been paid on eBay ?

Hi

this is the first time I've sold an item on ebay. I have mainly used eBay for buying things.

It was listed as a buy it now but I agreed to a best offer.

Since then I PM'd the buyer to say that I would dispatch the item once payment received. The reply was that payment had already been sent

On my eBay account it says 'payment awaited' under the notifications section. On my PayPal account I can't see evidence of payment on the activity page. Nothing new in my bank account.

basically have I done something wrong? Would the payment show up somewhere else?

Check your PayPal email address, if it's wrong it will show up as unclaimed on their side.

yes the payment should show as received so you are right to wait.

If you go to the item itself and click on sell similar then it will show you which email address you added to the listing. You may have made a typo in which case the buyer needs to cancel the payment and you need to tell them the right email address. If the email address is correct then log into paypal and see if the payment is there. It may be an echeque which takes a while to clear. If this is the case do not send out your item until it is cleared.

Ring up paypal if in doubt. They are v good.
